Priest Ordination
My Dear Parishioners!
It is with great joy that I am announcing to you that Bishop Edward Malesic has officially called the eight Transitional Deacons of our Diocese to the Order of Priest! This means that our very own parishioner Deacon James Parisi, and also Deacon Jon Hawkins who has served among us this past year, and also Deacon Chris Cotone who served here as a Seminarian Intern two years ago, will be Ordained to the Priesthood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland!
As a part of the parish responsibility outlined in Canon Law, the pastor must publish Banns announcing these ordinations and request the input of the congregation one last time prior to ordination. This is especially true for Deacon James Parisi as he is a son of our parish, and also Deacon Jon Hawkins as he has served here this past year. If therefore you would like to comment on the suitability for Orders of either James or Jon, please feel free to indicate so either to Bishop Malesic directly or to me. I continue to ask for your prayers for James, Jon, and Chris and their classmates and they enter their proximate preparation for Holy Orders!
By way of announcement, the new Father James Parisi will be celebrating his Mass of Thanksgiving here at St Hilary on Sunday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. (5:30 p.m. Mass is cancelled) with a reception following. The new Father Chris Cotone will celebrate Mass here on Saturday, May 31 at 4:00 p.m.; and the new Father Jon Hawkins will celebrate Mass here on Sunday, June 1at 9:00 a.m.!!!
Blessings!
