Fr. Cameron Popik
Fr. Cameron Popik was born on August 4, 1991, the fourth of ten children, to Robert and Jane Popik. Bob and Janie raised their family in Strongsville, Ohio. Growing up, time was spent primarily on instilling a deep faith within each individual and the gamut of outdoor sports; baseball, basketball, and football until soccer became the dominant activity. Fr. Cameron played soccer competitively throughout high school while also becoming involved in youth group and “TEC”, Teens Encounter Christ. Continuing the soccer route, he went to Ave Maria University in Florida to play collegiate NAIA soccer, as well as rugby and graduated with a degree in Biology in 2014. After working for one year, he discerned with the vocations director of the Diocese of Cleveland and entered Saint Mary’s Seminary in Wickliffe, Ohio in September, 2015.
Fr. Cam’s pastoral assignments include the Westside Catholic Center, St. Malachi backdoor ministry, the Cleveland mission in El Salvador, an internship at Saint Raphael Parish in Bay Village, Catholic Charities work at the Saint Augustine Manor and assigned as a Deacon at Saint Anselm Parish in Chesterland. He earned an M.Div. and an M.A. at Saint Mary’s Seminary and was ordained a Priest of Jesus Christ on May 15, 2021 by Bishop Edward Malesic at St John the Evangelist Cathedral.
Fr. Cameron enjoys playing and watching sports, particularly baseball and soccer, spending time with family and friends, live music and skiing.
