Rachel Maykut, Director of Faith Formation for Teens & Young Adults
Rachel Maykut grew up in the city of Strongsville attending Sts. Joseph and John Interparochial School with her older sister and younger brother. She attended Mass with her family at St. John Neumann Parish and became a part of the parish’s Life Teen program while she studied at Strongsville High School. She became a Laker for life after graduating from Mercyhurst University in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies accompanied by minors in Graphic Design, Catholic Studies and Philosophy. Some of her most notable memories from Mercyhurst come from her participation in MYRACLE (Mercyhurst Youth Retreats and Catholic Leadership Education), placement on the MU Cheerleading Team, and the opportunity to study abroad in Costa Rica.
Rachel was previously the Director of Youth Ministry at St. Brendan Parish in North Olmsted where she gained much of her ministerial experience by creating a youth program, building a Core Team, collaborating with the DRE on Confirmation preparation, participating in activities at the adjacent school, and attending the Catholic Youth Ministry Training Convention. She is grateful for her time spent in relational ministry at St. Brendan, is open to where the Lord needs her, and is looking forward to the ways in which she can fulfill God’s will at St. Hilary.
Rachel is appreciative of how welcoming and supportive the parish community has been thus far. As she reflects on the past and prays for an abundant future, she continues to be inspired by both the high school teens and junior high students to deliver authentic gatherings, events, service projects, and more that will lead them closer to Christ.
