Sunday, July 7 is SVDP Food Sunday!
This weekend is our St. Vincent de Paul Food Collection. Whether you make a monetary donation or drop off non-perishable food items in the SVDP collection bins at the doors of the church and Spiritual Center, you are living out God’s call to Stewardship.
Please note: We are only able to use unexpired and unopened items. Donations of personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and toilet paper are appreciated. Thank you for your generosity!
The St. Vincent de Paul council is a service organization of consisting of members of St. Hilary Parish who provide temporary assistance to families in Summit County. One option for you to help is to donate dry goods. Bins are put at the entrances of the church before Masses at the first Sunday of each month. Soap, diapers, toilet paper towels are important items to donate since people receiving food stamps must pay cash for these items. Please remember that food donations must not be expired, or they cannot be used. Recent collections have contained expired food and they have to be scrapped. A second option to provide help is through cash donations to our organization. Donations can be put in the collection basket or made through Faith Direct. These are the lifeblood of our ability to provide meaningful assistance. In just the last month, over $20,000 was distributed to individuals and families in need in our community. Finally, we ask for your prayers for the people we help. It is heartwarming to feel the gratitude they exhibit as they realize that God is providing for them in their time of need.
